Unlikely love connection made in stage production of Dogfight

A Marine headed to the Vietnam War makes an unlikely connection with a woman the night before he’s shipped out in “Dogfight,” a new musical set to premiere this weekend at the Chance Theater.
The play, scheduled to run through March 6, is about a group of Marines who participate in a mean-spirited contest aimed at finding the most unattractive girl to bring to a dance. One of those Marines meets a young woman who isn’t accustomed to attention from men, but “changes him in a way that is lasting and significant,” said Casey Long, managing director of the Chance Theater.
“This is a beautiful show that starts with this horrible premise, and yet a connection is still possible under the most unlikely of circumstances,” Long said.
