Reviewer Quotes

“ The show demonstrates that ordinary children can be fancy too, and, even more important, that Fancy Nancy can be an ordinary child. ”

New York Times

“ fills the theatre with laughter, catchy songs and life-long lessons ”

On the Cripe Stage…

This TYA favorite returns to the Chance for the sixth time. Bring the family and watch as Fancy Nancy and her friends Bree, Rhonda, Wanda, and Lionel get ready to perform in their very first show, “Deep Sea Dances.” Nancy is positive, that’s fancy for 100 percent sure, that she and Bree will be picked to be mermaids. When another girl wins the coveted role of the mermaid, Nancy is stuck playing a dreary, dull tree. Can Nancy bring fancy flair to her role, even though it isn’t the one she wanted?

Recommendation: Ages 4 and up. Great for the entire family.
Please Note: Babes in arms and children under four are not permitted, unless it’s at a designated Relaxed Performance.

“The audience is almost like a fashion show. They put on their finest tiaras, they’ll wear boas, tutus, mermaid costumes, ruby slippers and fairy wings…anything they’ve seen Nancy wear. Looking over the sea of adorable little girls, all you could see was pink feathers, shiny frippery, and Big, Big Smiles!”The Show Report

MEET THE CAST AFTER THE SHOW

The Chance is thrilled to be providing at least one "Relaxed Performance" per show in our TYA Family Series.   Relaxed performances are specifically designed to welcome patrons who will benefit from a less restricted audience environment. All patrons are welcome, including but not limited to those with:
  • intellectual or learning disabilities
  • sensory processing conditions
  • audience members on the autism spectrum
  • children under 4 years old
There is a relaxed attitude to noise and movement within the auditorium, and some minor production changes may be made to reduce the intensity of light, sound, and other potentially startling effects.

Audience Buzz

    1. I thought this play was hilarious. The songs were great (my personal favorite was the shark rap). Lots to enjoy for kids and adults. My daughter absolutely loved the show and hasn’t stopped talking about it. The cast was also so warm and welcoming to the kids after the show, it was much appreciated!

    3. My great-grandchildren (5 & 6) were thrilled to be able to get pictures with the cast and autographs on their programs after the show. This was their first live performance experience.
