To kick off Season 23, the Chance presents the Orange County premiere of the Drama Desk Award-nominated musical that is a soaring tribute to the power of friendship and the people who change our lives forever. The Story of My Life is a profoundly funny and deeply moving musical about lifelong best friends, Thomas and Alvin. As time tests the bonds of friendship, best-selling author Thomas calls on the only resource he has — his stories of Alvin — to better understand the best friend that got away.
Please note: This show contains mild profanity and some mature themes.
“ninety minutes of pathos, love, devotion, and poignancy… a fully realized emotional experience which I heartily recommend” Stage and Cinema
“It’s a touching story; the acting is top-notch, and you can watch it from the comfort of your own home.”
Orange Curtain Review“True, it doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles, but it’s humane, sincere, bright and funny, entertaining, and possessing the courage of its sweet-tempered convictions. These days, that’s a novelty.”
The Show Report“With a satisfying mixture of dialogue and singing we are brought into the story and given a dozen and a half musical routines that are pleasingly performed with Klena’s pleasant tenor and Moreno’s clear baritone. Each brings life and resonance” ShowMag.com
“Under Matthew McCray’s direction, Mr. Klena and Mr. Moreno eschew melodrama, keeping the characters’ emotions honest. Mutual respect rules the day, both in the actors’ performances and in Mr. Hill’s writing of the characters. Both actors sing with grace and feeling, under Robyn Manion’s sensitive musical direction.”San Diego Story
“Through a series of songs, each more tuneful and evocative than the next, we get to know two very different men, one of them a talented, confident man who dreamt big and the other, the introverted, troubled friend he left behind.”

I loved this show. The performances were wonderful, the songs lovely, and the storytelling was inspired and moving. I thought the play was very well constructed and so well written.
Thank you. I streamed the show from the suburbs of Philadelphia last night. I cried almost all the way thru. The story has elements of my own only my friend who passed was named Tom and I’m the writer. The look on Tom’s face when he began the eulogy at the end and when he used the words “best friend” will always stay with me. The musical was performed flawlessly. It brought joy, sorrow and peace to my own heart. Who.could ask for more?
This looks awesome…It the performance at your location in Anaheim? …I noticed ” Streaming”?
