This TYA favorite returns to the Chance for the fifth time. Bring the family and watch as Fancy Nancy and her friends Bree, Rhonda, Wanda, and Lionel get ready to perform in their very first show, “Deep Sea Dances.” Nancy is positive, that’s fancy for 100 percent sure, that she and Bree will be picked to be mermaids. When another girl wins the coveted role of the mermaid, Nancy is stuck playing a dreary, dull tree. Can Nancy bring fancy flair to her role, even though it isn’t the one she wanted?
Recommendation: Ages 4 and up. Great for the entire family.
“The audience is almost like a fashion show. They put on their finest tiaras, they’ll wear boas, tutus, mermaid costumes, ruby slippers and fairy wings…anything they’ve seen Nancy wear. Looking over the sea of adorable little girls, all you could see was pink feathers, shiny frippery, and Big, Big Smiles!” – The Show Report

The Chance is thrilled to be providing at least one "Relaxed Performance" per show in our TYA Family Series. Relaxed performances are specifically designed to welcome patrons who will benefit from a less restricted audience environment. Patrons of all abilities are welcome, including but not limited to those with intellectual or learning disabilities, sensory processing conditions or autism. There is a relaxed attitude to noise and movement within the auditorium, and some minor production changes may be made to reduce the intensity of light, sound and other potentially startling effects.

I was so happy with his friendly the staff was – very helpful since we’d never been here. Everything was set up so perfectly for little girls to enjoy. The play itself was a delight, and the added bonus was meeting the cast afterward. We really enjoyed ourselves.
— Karen Norman (2016)
It was our 1st time at the Chance Theatre and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Everyone was very friendly. We enjoyed the musical and will definitely come back.
— Diana Flynn (2016)
I think the message was beautifully portrayed and I know my grand daughter Cambria “got it.”
— Liz Jones (2016)
We had front row seats, which made the overall experience especially outstanding. The actors’ direct engagement with the audience through eye contact and body language, the bubbles, the energy from the cast…all of it made our experience amazing. We attended for my daughter’s 6th birthday, and she felt so special. Our entire group–both my husband and myself and the children we brought–loved it!
— Kim J. (2017)

It was an excellent production. The kids and I both loved it. I go to a lot of live theater and this was one of the best kids productions I’ve seen; especially for such a small theater. The seats are really comfortable. I loved how the kids could meet the actors after, making it even more special. The acting was fantastic & high energy. I was also really impressed with the kind and patient staff. The quality of the set design was also top-notch. I have been recommending it to everyone. The shark’s rap stood out as one of my favorite moments.
