The Orange Curtain Review
A comedy for parents and those of us who love them
Acclaimed writer Molly Smith Metzler (Shameless, Orange is the New Black, and Maid) holds both a microscope and a megaphone to the joys and perils that today’s mothers face. This hilarious and heart-warming comedy takes a sharp and honest look at the power of female friendship, the dilemma of going back to work after being home with a newborn, and the effect that economic and social class has on parenthood in America.
NOTE: This show is recommended for ages 12 and older for mature themes. It also includes a portrayal of cigarette smoking with a non-tobacco e-cigarette. No nicotine, tobacco, or tar will be in use.

“At times bitingly funny and at other times, achingly bittersweet, Metzler’s play CRY IT OUT is a poignant slice-of-life that takes an eavesdropper’s look at the hopes, fears, and lessons that come with new motherhood in our current times, and just how different each new mother chooses to handle the balancing act.”Broadway World
“Indeed, much of the pleasure of experiencing Cry It Out is discovering how surprising its four characters are and how unpredictable its plot twists prove to be, that and a couple of sensational lead performances that alone make the Chance Theater’s latest a must-see.”
StageSceneLA“Amazingly, in only a short 90 minutes, Director de Santos creates a vivid, specific portrayal of the joys and hair-tearing, mind-numbing agonies – mental, physical and financial – that these three new mothers face. It’s a story of love, but it’s also about anger, stress, unfairness, loss and the ravages of breastfeeding.”The Show Report
