Meet Erica Schaeffer (Ensemble)
What is your favorite way to communicate your feelings to a loved one?
I love to communicate through writing or music. I consider myself a bit of a hopeless romantic, definitely more old-fashioned in terms of gestures of love.
Have you ever had a work-related romance? If so…how’d it go?
This is getting personal! In general, I feel it’s risky to date a co-worker. It can either end really well or really badly. It hasn’t been too successful for me.
Write out your personal ad:
Down to earth female seeking an awesome human! Loves penguins, music, Netflix and playing hide and seek in IKEA. Youthful, but an old soul at heart. Gives excellent hugs. Looking for a driven & intelligent gentleman who has a great sense of humor, kind heart, and a fantastic smile.
Tell us something that happened on a blind/first date.
Thinking about it, I haven’t had any horror stories from a first date (yet). Nor have I gone on a blind date. Disneyland has proven to be a pretty good date spot!
Do you have a favorite moment in the play?
I love the Vanilla Ice Cream scene- both the song and the scene leading up to it. It becomes a turning point in the way Georg and Amalia treat one another in real life. Amalia’s self discovery in that scene is also so joyful and delicious.
What was your first job in theater?
My first (paying) job in theater was an education outreach tour through Musical Theatre West, singing about books and theatre at many public libraries in Long Beach. Definitely a wonderful experience to inspire others with two things I feel very passionate about: the arts and education!
What excites you most about this story and why should people come see it?
I naturally get very excited about the quality of nostalgia and loveliness this story exudes. However, this show isn’t just a delicate romantic comedy. It has moments of light, which are countered by some of the darker realities of these character’s lives. These are people we can relate to in both their triumphs and hardships. People should come see this production of course for the lovely score, the romance and the laughter, but also for the personable, grounded characters this story houses.
