Meet Daniel Jared Hersh (Arpad)
What’s your favorite way to communicate your feelings to a loved one?
The best way to communicate feelings to someone you love is, of course, in person. If you love them, then you’d want to be with them whenever possible. But, if for some reason that isn’t an option, I would definitely say a hand-written note or card is the best way. Technology is taking over, and facebook messaging or texting someone just seems so impersonal. Taking the time to physically write something down shows much more effort.
Have you ever had a work-related romance? If so… how’d it go?
I haven’t. Honestly, the situation has never presented itself to me. But I can say that if it did, I think I would probably avoid it. I don’t think I would handle something like that very well.

Charmingly awkward young gentleman. Musical theater nerd. Dog lover. Tech savvy. Avid Disneyland visitor. Gemini. Vertically challenged. Harry Potter enthusiast. Kid at heart (and sometimes in appearance).
Tell us about something that happened on a blind/first date.
I have never been on a blind date, that sounds scary. But I have been on a small number of first dates. One thing I know I’m bad at is knowing whether or not to kiss someone at the end of a first date. One time, I was so unsure, at the end of the date, I flat out asked if we should kiss. It was one of the most awkward situations I’ve ever been in. We did end up kissing, but did not go on many dates after.
Do you have a favorite moment in the play?
My favorite moment in the play would be when Arpad finally achieves his dream. It’s what he’s wanted for a very long time, and he’s so grateful for the opportunity.
What do you connect to in this story?
I definitely connect with the feeling of loving and hating someone at the same time. Any time you love someone, you care about what they think greatly. So, when you have an argument, it affects you that much more, making it easier to get angry and upset. This happens in the show a lot, and not just between Amalia and Georg.
What excites you about this story and why should people come and see it?
This story is so funny and charming, I really think people will love it. And the music! The music in this show is really fantastic. I think it’s one of Bock and Harnick’s best scores.
