Bitter Lemons’ LEMONMETER hit the maximum for Loch Ness, a new musical!Loch-Ness-photo-03-300x214

At the Lemon, folks don’t “review” shows, rather they “review” reviews by gathering them from a variety of local review sites around the internet, judging them to be positive or negative, then forming an aggregate score that they call a LEMONMETER RATING, showing how well that show has been reviewed in total. Here are their ratings of the Loch Ness reviews so far:

SWEET
Unlike much new musical theater, “Loch Ness” is a charming, pleasingly quirky, wholly original concept. Its fine staging at Chance shows that theaters taking a chance on a new, unproduced play can strike it rich.
Eric Marchese – OC Register

SWEET
Whether Loch Ness is the show that launches Pailet into non-fringe territory is anyone’s guess. It’s still very early in its development, and there are a few wrinkles in the book and score that need to be ironed out. But what is here is already very good. It’s a smart, funny musical with a genuine heart and just enough goofiness to offset any pathos in its very sincere examination of a teenage daughter dealing with the loss of her mother—as well as meeting a real-life Nessie, the fabled creature rumored to exist in the murky depths of Scotland’s Loch Ness.
Joel Beers – OC Weekly

SWEET
Stepping on board for this world premiere was an enjoyable treat and certainly one of the better musicals to hit Southern California regional theater in some time. The story delivers where it counts and the Chance Theater brings a professional and special performance aspect to the show. Loch Ness holds much promise for the future and it will be of great interest to see how things unfold from here.
Kevin Lax – Stage and Cinema

SWEET
There was a moment in Chance Theater’s LOCH NESS, a new musical, when I realized I had fallen completely in love with it; when everything suddenly came together in the most wonderful of ways – the glow of the lighting on a handful of heart wide open actors, the lyrical swell of their singing voices soaring with hope, a fog rising from a sea of imagination brought to life with unexpected delight – all of it morphed into what can only be described as pure magic.
Ellen Dostal – BroadwayWorld

SWEET
Though its title gives away little of what makes Loch Ness, a new musical so magical, word of mouth most certainly will, and if audiences respond with as much love as Friday night’s (and this reviewer) did, not only will the Chance have a smash 2105 season opener, Triassic Parq’s Pailet may find reptilian lightning striking twice in the very same place—and beyond.
Steven Stanley – StageSceneLA

SWEET
The overall effect was just beautiful, creative, and touching.
Daniel Faigin – Observations Along the Road

A grand total of 100% SWEET!
