“So… what is a Matinicus, anyway?”, we hear you ask!
Well, Matinicus – A Lighthouse Play playwright Jenny Connell Davis answers that question and also tells you why she decided to write a show about the true story of a lighthouse keeper today.
Some excerpts from the interview…
- “I was inspired to write ‘Matinicus’, in part, because I’m a salty lady from Maine. And Abigail Burgess was also a salty lady from Maine!” (we can confirm that this is indeed true)
- “When you’re a lighthouse keeper, you have one job. Which is to keep the lights on – keep the lights burning – in order to keep people safe who you will probably never meet.” (sounds pretty noble)
- “What is my relationship with Chance Theater? You guys are family, man!” (same, Jenny… we feel the same)
- “We have to be the light. We have to be the lighthouse.” (agreed!)
