Good People hits 100% on Better Lemons’ LEMONMETER!
At the Lemon, folks don’t “review” shows, rather they “review” reviews by gathering them from a variety of local review sites around the internet, judging them to be positive or negative, then forming an aggregate score that they call a LEMONMETER RATING, showing how well that show has been reviewed in total. Here are their ratings of the Good People reviews so far:
SWEET
Few playwrights have managed to blend laugh-out-loud humor with heart-wrenching poignancy to the degree accomplished by David Lindsay-Abaire in his brilliantly devised play “Good People,” currently on stage at the Chance Theater in Anaheim… “Good People” is the sort of production one would expect to find at an established professional theater such as South Coast Repertory.
Tom Titus – LA Times
SWEET
Strong acting throughout, including Alec Kenney and Karen Webster, and no-nonsense direction by Jocelyn A. Brown that captures all the humor and poignancy of the play without overplaying anything. It’s chock full of laughs and shocking dramatic turns, often back-to-back… Opening night stirred a rousing standing ovation from the audience and I would anticipate more to come.
Scott Keister – The Orange Curtain Review
SWEET
All of these issues and a few more come into play in David Lindsay-Abaire’s “Good People.” The 2011 dramedy receives an auspicious Orange County premiere at Chance Theater, where the skilled playwright delivers the same brutal honesty as seen in such modern classics as “Kimberly Akimbo” and “Rabbit Hole.”
Eric Marchese – OC Register
SWEET
With stellar direction by Jocelyn A. Brown and a convincing cast of performers, Lindsay-Abaire’s drama is brought to life on the Chance Theater’s Cripe Stage, and it remains as relevant in the Trump-era of 2018 as it was when it was written nearly a decade ago, if not more so.
Ben Miles – ShowMag.com
SWEET
Good People is that rarity among plays, one that not only surprises, entertains, and engrosses but gets even better when you go back knowing what you didn’t suspect the first time round. Expect to be thinking and talking about the latest Chance Theater winner long after its final fade to black.
Steven Stanley – StageSceneLA
A grand total of 100% SWEET!
