“Intro to Stage Combat”
Taught by Martin Noyes
This energetic and hands-on class explores how physical storytelling can elevate performance. Students will learn how to create safe, believable stage fights that serve the script and character relationships. Working with partners, participants will build foundational skills like falling, rolling, and unarmed combat, all while focusing on collaboration, safety, and intention. Through guided choreography, actors will discover how every movement can deepen character, build tension, and tell a clearer story. If time permits, the class may also introduce armed combat techniques such as basic knife work. No prior experience is needed—just curiosity, focus, and a willingness to throw (pretend) punches for the sake of art.
