Wayne Lemon is an American playwright whose work has been performed at South Coast Repertory, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Hartford Stage and the Chance Theater, among others. Lemon began his career as theatre critic for the Austin Chronicle. His debut play, the darkly comic Jesus Hates Me, had its World Premiere as the inaugural production of the Denver Center Theatre Company’s New Play Summit.
Lemon’s work has been featured in Hartford Stage’s Brand:NEW Fall Festival of Plays, Horizon Theatre Company’s New South Playworks, New Haarlem Arts Theatre’s Unheard Voices for the American Theater and the Alabama Shakespeare Festival’s Southern Writers’ Project.
He currently lives in Los Angeles where he writes for the motion picture industry.
He remains convinced Jesus only mildly dislikes him.
