Artist Profile
Raymond Zachary is currently a student at the American Jewish University striving towards a degree in Jewish studies. After this, he plans to attend Cantorial school in pursuit of becoming an ordained Synagogue Cantor. Raymond serves currently as a cantorial soloist at several different Synagogues in the greater Southern California area. Because Raymond is a countertenor he has only ever played women on stage. Some of his favorite past roles include Mother Abbess (The Sound of Music), Lady Thiang (The King and I), Edna Turnblad (Hairspray), and Aunt March (Little Women) to name a few. Raymond is very excited to get the chance to trade in his high heels for a pair of pants for the first time. Raymond would like to thank his family for all of their love and thanks to his best friends Ellyn Cervantes, Michelle Kaufman and Jenna Mosich for their constant support. Also special thanks to the web of Rabbis, Cantors, Professors and other Clergy who continue to help him fulfill his dream while still having fun and living life to the fullest. Raymond proudly dedicates his performance to the memory of his beloved teacher and mentor, Rabbi Mark S. Miller.
