Artist Profile
Malvika “Maxie” Lankalingam is an actor, director, and dramaturg from India. She is a senior at Chapman University pursuing an undergraduate degree in Theatre Studies. Through her theatre practice, she fights for equal representation for women and people of color. Over the past two years, she has directed and performed in shows concerning race, sexuality, and societal constructs regarding women. Currently, she is working on developing and producing a play about menstruation and coming of age to represent taboos in theatre and to stress the importance of creating controversial art to promote social awareness. She is also part of a devised theatre for social change ensemble called Cross The Line. After her graduation, she plans to work in diversity and education outreach.
