Artist Profile
Gregory Joseph Allen is a classically trained, forty year acting veteran from Southern California. He has performed in close to one thousand performances in over one hundred different theatrical productions. Gregory is a graduate of the two year professional acting program at the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts in Santa Maria, California, and he received a B.A. degree in Theatre Arts: Acting from California State University, Fullerton before moving on to earn a M.F.A. in Theatre Arts: Acting/Directing from California State University, Long Beach. During his time at CSULB he taught Intro to Theatre and Intro to Acting classes.
Gregory has also been blessed to have spent the last 7 years teaching middle and high school theatre at Tsinghua International School in Beijing, China. One of the many highlights of his tenure at THIS was the producing and directing of the school’s first high school musical entitled, appropriately enough, Walt Disney’s High School Musical. This was followed up by the highly successful production of Schoolhouse Rock, Live!. During his tenure at THIS he has also directed over fifty one-act and full length plays, featuring students from both the middle and secondary schools. Gregory feels very fortunate that he has had the opportunity to share his love for the theatre with the amazing students at THIS, and it is his hope that his pupils lives will be as touched and enriched by their knowledge of, and interaction with, this transcendent art form known as theatre, as his has been.
