Josephine Darum wrote a novel about a war between dragons. So why are publishers asking her to write a memoir? And why would anyone be interested in reading about her life in the first place? The publishers say she doesn’t need to worry about her life being interesting enough, but Joanne can read between the lines: if her book is going to be successful, ideally, something horrible and traumatic should happen to her. The only question is whether she can find that story for herself, before the publishers “weigh in.” Verite is a paranoid thriller about a woman determined to live a life worth reading about…with potential for film rights.
