Sophie & Larry Cripe are avid theater goers and first went to the Chance seven years ago to see Jesus Hates Me. Larry has served on the Chance Board for six years and currently serves as Board Chair. Sophie is currently on the Board of South Coast Repertory (SCR) under the President’s Circle and Past President of the Board. This is the sixth time Sophie and Larry have been Chance producers, having previously sponsored The Laramie Project Cycle, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, In The Heights, Hairspray, A Chorus Line and Parade. Sophie has a BA and MA in Speech and Theater from the University of Illinois. Her second career was as a professional fundraiser. Larry attended Newport Harbor High School and graduated from Cal State Fullerton majoring in Business Administration. He worked as an accounting, finance and information system professional that spanned a number of industries (healthcare, automotive, insurance, banking and finance). At one time Larry was co-owner of a martial arts studio and an interactive murder mystery dinner theater. (Some may remember the Play Mystery company that staged productions at South Coast Village). Both are “retired” and, when not traveling or going to theater, Sophie assists the Chance as dramaturg and Larry plays soccer.
