It’s not easy growing up with red hair

Generations of readers have adored the best-selling novel Anne of Green Gables, and now the musical adaptation of the beloved book hits the stage at Chance Theater. The Cuthberts expect to adopt a boy, but receive, instead, a red-haired, wide eyed orphan girl. Though clever young Anne Shirley has a penchant for getting into trouble, she works her way into the hearts of her adoptive parents as well as the residents of rural Prince Edward Island. It’s a heartwarming story for the whole family.

    3. I just enjoyed the whole experience. Seats in the 2nd row with my daughter and her friend – both mentally challenged. Dianna’s Delight specially spiked for me by sweet Ms. George was delicious. She went out of her way to make the girls feel welcome and comfortable. The intimacy of the theatre made such a positive difference to the same experience in a larger venue. I thought the casting was spot on. The costumes were awesome. The photo opps at the end were an extra treat. Many thanks for a great experience. ❤️

    5. I brought my three granddaughters (ages 10, 7 & 5) and daughter with me and they loved it! We especially liked the opportunity to talk with the cast and get pictures taken. My little girls were delighted to have a keepsake of them with all the cast. A very nice touch to a very delightful evening.

    9. The actress who played Anne was outstanding. At the end, her emotional performance had me in tears. And again at the end as she waves at Matthew, it started the water works all over again. So fantastic. I also particularly enjoyed the way Woman 2 had very distinct ways of playing each of her different roles. Helped to differentiate between her characters. A wonderful cast all around and a wonderful experience.

    12. Saturday December 5, 2015, the premier of Anne of Green Gables was a spectacular smash! An outstanding cast entertained the theater full of fans so well representing the storyline to a tee. The script is so well written that it brings out the Anne’s and friends’ characters to be loved by even those young and old new to the story. Congratulations to the whole cast and production team, especially to Angela Griswold, Marina Coffee, Corky Loupe and Xavier J. Watson. (SPOILER ALERT!) The most touching scene would have to be Matthew’s demise.(END OF SPOILER ALERT!) It was also a joy to introduce our dear friends to the story and have them accompany us and become fans to Anne of Green Gables. Our only regret is that the play ended too soon! We would absolutely recommend this production to any and all!

    14. Loved everything about the experience! Impressed with the acting. Characters depicted wonderfully. Successfully brought forth the sensitive, humorous, and childlike qualities of the characters. Set design was simple yet well done. Loved backdrop of excerpts from the text. Also enjoyed the period clothing. A big bravo to Casey and the cast! Fine job. Thank you!

    15. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience of the show. The actor who portrayed Matthew was blessed with some scenes in the play with Anne and Marilla that contained words full of emotion, but it was his connection to the other characters through eye contact and expression that had my tears flowing. I just loved Anne. She was sweet and emotional – very convincing in the part. My favourite of the night was the actress who portrayed Rachel Lind and Aunt Josephine! She was so professional and thoroughly enjoyed her performance. I was surprised that Gilbert had such a small part in the show. He was fabulous in the small part he did play. Diana was great – fantastic singer. I felt like I was watching the Marilla from the movies – great performance.

    18. Great production. This was the first show we saw at the Chance Theater many years ago – it was great. After many years and shows seen at the Chance since, this is still a must see production.
