Alice in Wonderland

by Randy Wyatt
Directed by Darryl B. Hovis

TWO PERFORMANCES ADDED
Friday, March 27 at 7pm & Sunday, March 29 at 2pm

Discover a Wonderland you never knew

A madcap adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic! Alice chases the White Rabbit down a hole and discovers a world filled with strange creatures and even stranger poetry. Your favorite characters, such as the Mad Hatter and Queen of Hearts, are joined by lesser-known ones, including the Pigeon and the Nanny in Duchess’ kitchen. Just in time for Alice’s 150th “birthday,” this coming-of-age adventure is a fun-filled experience for the whole family, and the perfect way to kick off Chance’s new Theater for Young Audiences Series.

There will be a special "relaxed performance" of Alice in Wonderland on Thursday, March 26 at 7:00pm.

This performance will be specifically designed to welcome people who will benefit from a more relaxed performance environment, including people with an Autism Spectrum Condition, sensory and communication disorders, or a learning disability. There may be some small changes to the light and sound effects for the show.

Audience Buzz

    1. The staging was very creative since it allowed such a small space. Alice did an outstanding job with the amount of dialogue!

    2. A few family members and I attended the Gala performance! One of our party was my grand-niece, Tehya, 9 yrs old. She thoroughly enjoyed herself. She also played stick the “Smile” on the “Cheshire Cat”!

She asked why everyone kept going in and out of cubbyholes, I explained, that allowed them to enter and leave the stage from different areas, instead of all from the same place. I explained that the Chance will put on shows that will leave something to your imagination, she seemed to like that.

Personally, it’s been a long time since I’ve read or watched “Alice in Wonderland”, I enjoyed the show and was happy with how much I understood. I really enjoyed Beach’s “Caterpillar”, I talked to him later about the sign language he was using, that helped me realize that he was the Caterpillar.

Another show well done!! keep up the great work.

    6. Oh, man, I love everything about this! The boucgraknd with the words…how all the characters go around the border like a real tea party…the patterns and textures. And of course, the happy colors! This is wonderfully fanciful. Pour me a cuppa, please!

    11. Have you ever wished you could attend the Mad Hatters tea party? Well, you can at the Chance theater. Alice is a fun and funny snapshot of Alice in Wonderland full of fun and wonderment for all ages. With many things going on at one time on the compact stage there is something for everyone. It is a short run, so run to the theater and see this before it is gone, just like the Cheshire Cat.

    12. What does “Relaxed performance” mean?
